This Wednesday, September 30, Alltech Fortnight Festival presents a Poetry Slam hosted by Chicago's Marc Kelly Smith in Lexington's Downtown Arts Center's Black Box Theater.
Smith just so happened to have founded the entire 'slam' movement, 25 years ago, and was recently featured in a lengthy spread in New York Magazine where he discussed how the movement has shifted since it first began.
The slam is two-fold, with Equestrian readers and traditional slam participants alike (including some favorite Lexington poets) and $2000 in prizes.
Yours truly, SaRiot, will be on hand as a judge.
Tickets are $15 and the show is expected to sell out. If you'd like to win a free pair, e-mail me at kyblueline@gmail.com and tell me your favorite poet. Winner will be drawn around 10 a.m. Wednesday!
